Aqualinc Research Limited is a leading provider of services relating to Water and Land Management, this includes a range of field services which is what this role relates to.
These field services are varied and include telemetry installations and maintenance, aquifer testing, flow measurements and flow meter verifications, irrigation testing and evaluation and soil moisture monitoring.
The successful applicant will be involved with both office-based and field work: it is a hands-on role, and will include installing and maintaining field systems on-farm, as well as other testing and monitoring.
They will need to be successful working as part of a team as well as being competent to work autonomously and unsupervised in remote locations.
A key part of the role is regular personal contact with the farmers we serve, and an understanding of farm systems and practices would be beneficial.
The role involves:
Installing telemetry systems (including field sensors), routine maintenance and troubleshooting breakdowns.
Work on Aqualinc’s MyIrrigation irrigation management system to add and set up new users, monitor system health and identify faults
Hydrological Field work such as aquifer testing, open channel flow measurements, well step tests etc.
Providing technical support to other staff.
A comprehensive support network will provide full back-up to the successful applicant.
We are looking for applicants with electrical engineering and/or hydrological qualifications with 4-5 years’ experience in data acquisition systems, database management and telemetry system design and troubleshooting.
Much of the work is outdoors so a reasonable level of physical fitness is required.
An understanding of farm systems and practices would be beneficial.
Candidates will also have excellent verbal and written communication skills, business acumen, and the ability to interact effectively with farmers and staff across all of Aqualinc’s business units. In order to excel in this fast-paced environment they will also need excellent organisational and time-management skills.
Experience with hydrological / climate data and equipment would be beneficial.
