About the Role


Rockwater has a vacancy for a Project Hydrologist with interests in developing his/her hydrological and environmental skills to join our team.


The successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop and apply their skills in hydrological and assessments assessments for a diverse range of projects and clients. The role will include conducting hydrological studies and flood assessments, design flood mitigation structures and develop surface water management plans. In addition, there will be opportunities to work on groundwater and environmental impact assessments.


The role will be well supported by senior staff, whilst allowing opportunities for autonomy. You will be provided opportunities for on-going training. The position is based in our Perth office, but some field work might be required.


About You


The successful candidate will have an appropriate tertiary qualification (including a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, earth sciences or equivalent), and preferably 3+ years’ experience as a Hydrologist .


You will also have previous experience with Australian Rainfall and Runoff Guidelines and application of RORB software and other relevant analytical methods and computing packages, such as hydrology and hydraulic modelling software, Python programming and GIS Tools (QGIS/ArcGIS). Experience with packages such as TUFLOW and demonstrated ability to learn and apply new methods will also be highly regarded.


You will be able to work independently and as part of in-house and multidisciplinary teams. Previous consulting experience or hydrological field work experience in a similar role will be viewed favourably.


Expected Start Date: Immediate start


Employment Type: Full-time, although a Part-time position may be considered for suitable applicants
