We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Data Officer to join our Environmental Monitoring team. The Senior Environmental Data Officer is responsible for the operational management and development of Councils environmental data systems. There is also responsibility for designing and implementing quality assurance systems and processes to ensure Environmental Monitoring team data collection, processing and storage adheres to National Environmental Monitoring Standards (NEMS).


Up for the challenge? Great! – ideally you’ll have:


  • A relevant tertiary degree with predominant content of environmental sciences, hydrology, geography, natural resources or equivalent

  • Confidence with computers, database programs and dataset management

  • A practical understanding of the principles of data collection methodology, quality control and assurance systems

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • A full New Zealand Drivers Licence

  • Experience working with mana whenua or at least a willingness to learn
