The opportunity

Kōmanawa Solutions Ltd is a water resource consultancy and research organisation specialising in water resource management, investigation and modelling, environmental limit setting and water resource impact assessment. Our clients are central and local NZ government and private sector organisations across NZ, Australia, and the UK.

Our growing consulting and research workstreams are providing opportunities for water resource practitioners to join our team and help to tackle some of the biggest natural resource challenges in Aotearoa NZ, mō tātou, ā, mō kā uri ā muri ake nei (for us and our children after us).

We are seeking a Senior Water Resource Scientist / Water Resource Scientist with:

• A degree in physical or environmental science, preferably coupled with a post graduate qualification in hydrogeology or hydrology.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience (Senior Water Resource Scientist).

• Minimum 2 years’ experience (Water Resource Scientist) preferred, but graduates will be considered.

• Experience with groundwater modelling, environmental effects assessment and consenting, groundwater resource investigation and development and groundwater and surface water quality.

• Excellent written and spoken communication capabilities coupled with strong interpersonal skills

• Ability to present scientific information concisely and clearly and to build connections with our clients, colleagues, and communities.

Scientific programming (Python), and strong numerical and data science skills are highly valued for our research workstreams.

Applicants based in or relocating to Christchurch are preferred but consideration will be given to all suitably qualified NZ candidates.

Full time applicants are preferred, but opportunities exist for the right part-time candidate.
