Team Leader - Environmental Data

In this senior specialist position based in Richmond, you'll be leading a highly experienced operational team of four, they have lots to achieve, and you will lead the way! You'll have the benefit of being at the sharp end of the business, so you'll get the satisfaction of seeing positive results from your combined efforts.

You will lead the data management and analysis program for Council's environmental data, ensuring it is captured, interpreted, stored securely, and is discoverable or disseminated to a wide range of stakeholders. You will regularly review the baseline environmental monitoring program to ensure it meets Council's science goals, and work closely with the Team Leader - Environmental Monitoring to ensure the monitoring network is collecting data to industry best practice.

We expect that you will be well-connected to other experts in your field, you may already be acting as a representative on a national working group or providing advice to other agencies on environmental data-related issues. You'll be forward-thinking and strategic in approach… but you'll also be comfortable with the unforeseen, for example, providing information at short notice to specialists during droughts and floods.

You'll bring to the role considerable experience managing environmental data, and a demonstrated ability to develop a high-performing team with a strong focus on delivering exceptional customer service. Ideally, you will hold a post-graduate degree in science, data science, hydrology, or similar. Having experience in Python or R is an advantage, or at a minimum the vision to ensure modern analytical programs are used to best advantage.
