The Environmental Information team at Tasman District Council believe our interactions are integral to build relationships to deliver the work we do for the community.
We are looking for a Water Resources Analyst to assist us in the delivery of key areas of work including;
Utilising data to provide data driven analytics for regional catchment management plans for the diverse Catchments in the Tasman District.
Supporting Council to deliver the implementation of the National Policy Statement – Freshwater Management (NPS-FM).
Promotion of and providing advice on water resources and landcover data/information for Council and stakeholders for water management and land management relevant to water quantity management and water quality enhancement.
Engage and work with a diverse range of internal and external parties including landowners, tangata whenua and community / catchment groups within catchments in providing sound water resources and landcover information for enhancing community understanding and aiding in community lead natural resources management initiatives.
We are looking for someone who can bring the following to our diverse team:
A tertiary qualification in natural or physical sciences/natural resources, Engineering or other relevant environmental management qualification
Proven abilities in data analysis including GIS, knowledge of the National Policy Statement for Freshwater Management and the Resource Management Act
Enthusiasm and an ability to build effective relationships both internally and with external stakeholders
Ability to negotiate, motivate and persuade others
Experience in a similar role within New Zealand’s in water/natural resources management would be an advantage
